Jo Jøldal from Kongsberg is competing in the Femundløpet for the fifth this year. Inn at Tolga is he at 30 place with 7 dogs. Last year during Finnmarksløpet they were both the best in at what they were there for.
Previously Jo Jøldal raced F600 twice and F400 twice, this year he participates in the F400 again. -I have another team in this distance, but it is mostly young dogs. We use Femundløpet to prepeare for Finnmarksløpet 1000km, which is the big goal this year, says a smiling Jøldal. The other team is mushed by Silje Christin Lystad.
Jo has worked with dogs all his life. He began with rescue dogs before for around 15 years ago went over to muching. It is only in the last five years he has been involved in competitive long-distance driving.
Rookie of the Year and Best Handler
Jo ran right through Tynset and has so far had a great trip. Track has been better than expected although the last bit between Tynset and Tolga was a bit challenging. I was a little concerned that there would be little snow, but the condition has been great, says Jo.
Last year during Finnmarksløpet Jo was best rookie, and his sister was named the race's best handler. The good cooperation seems to be continuing in this race. She is an experienced handler, smiling brother Jøldal.
